Lewis Rae was born in Lerwick the main town of the Shetland Islands, Scotland.

His early acting experience began with the Scottish Youth theatre prior to training at the Arts Education School in London.

Film and television work includes the role of Roger in the comedy series Captain Butler (Channel 4); the lead role of Euan in the feature film Chasing The Deer (Cromwell Films); Nini in Nini's Treehouse (GMTV); Jimmy Charles the Jockey in a one hour special The Wrong Horse, for The Bill (Thames Television); and Jeff Dexter in the drama documentary Marc Bolan - The Last Twenty Four Hours.

He has had extensive theatre experience which include playing Mole in Alan Bennett's adaptation of Wind In The Willows at the Bristol Old Vic, Scrub in Rogues To Riches and Charlie Brown in Snoopy for both the Watermill Theatre, Newbury and has spent a season with The New Shakespeare Company playing Snug in A Midsummer Nights Dream, Reynaldo in Hamlet and The Boy in The Card (Regents Park Open Air Theatre, UK tour and Moscow).

Other theatre work includes Colin in The Condos (Gilded Balloon, Edinburgh), The Balladeer in Stephen Sondheims Assassins (Komedia, Brighton), Andy in Someone Like You for The Cambridge Theatre Company (Strand Theatre, London), Gideon in Seven Brides For Seven Brothers (Haymarket, Leicester), Dill in To Kill A Mocking Bird (Theatre Royal York), Icarus in The Challenge (Shaw, London and original cast recording), Vernand Alves in Judy (Oldham Coliseum) and Dandelion in Watership Down (Redgrave, Farnham).

Lewis also played the juvenile lead in David Essexs' Robinson Crusoe, and the title roles in several pantomimes throughout the country including Aladdin and Peter Pan. He has done several voice overs and can be heard playing the role of Marcus Reid in Arrangements Of War, the BBC Doctor Who Audio Series.

Throughout summer 2006, Lewis performed in the following productions: Inside Job, Relatively Speaking, Dames At Sea and Don't Dress For Dinner at the Sheringham Little Theatre, Norfolk. In December 2006 Lewis played the role of Bob Cratchit in A Christmas Carol.

Lewis is currently in rehearsal readings playing the role of William Wilberforce  in AN AFRICAN'S BLOOD at various dates. Lewis also appears on the Premiere Studio Recording of SOMEONE LIKE YOU that was recently released by Sepia Records.
